Quiz
24.03.99 - 28.02.13
Today my ‘special’ boy Quiz was given his forever sleep when yet another stroke was just too much. He had a huge one in February 2012 and then minor blips throughout the year. Last week he had another and today was after yet another the final dreadful decision had to be made.
I cannot describe what that boy gave my family over the years, he was just all that and a bit besides. In his write up for Crufts 2005 I described him as everything between fabulous and frustrating and taking me every place between heaven and hell.
Not because he was a bad boy but because I seriously lacked the knowledge and ability to train and own a dog like Quiz. He was without doubt my dog of a lifetime. He had a huge zest for life and a great hunger to learn.
He appeared at Crufts in 2001, 2002 with my daughter Jessica in heelwork to music displays and in 2005 in the obedience championships with myself. He wasn’t an obedience champion as he only ever won one ticket and two reserves (because I was rubbish!) but we also had fun as he played at Flyball and Working Trials too.
Many thanks to Joan Kent of Tyefold Working Sheepdogs for allowing us the privilege of owning such a star and to all our friends that have supported us over the years. To the judges who thought us good enough to be in their line ups and a special thank you to Ray Wakelin for allowing the dream of taking him to Crufts to become a reality. If it never ever happens again, I had a chance and an amazing day!
Finally last but by no means least my eternal and grateful thanks to my very good friend Colette who was with me when I chose him, drove me to collect him, applauded this first rosette and cuddled him as he closed his eyes and went over the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you soooooo very much for everything you are amazing!
Run wild pain free at Rainbow Bridge my gorgeous boy. They have lots and lots of sendaways there and you don’t even have to do the wait!!! Thank you for sharing your life with me, I will miss you always xxx
